Antarctic cooling dated to 41 million years

Description: 

New fossil evidence dates the opening of Drake's Passage, between Patagonia and the Antarctic, to 41 million years ago. The opening of the passage allowed the circumpolar current to develop, blocking warmer currents flowing towards to pole and causing a dramatic decrease in temperatures.
